Our History
The Pixel and Luna Resource Network began in 2016 as a one-time fundraiser in celebration of Pixel and Luna’s birthday month. We were overwhelmed by the positive community response and realized there was a need for an annual fundraiser to support local rescue groups. We are proud to announce that 2021 marks our five year anniversary of helping animal rescue groups throughout Michigan!
2016
During our inaugural fundraiser in April 2016, we raised $1,058 in monetary donations, over 46 pounds of cat food, as well as cat blankets, toys, and supplies. These donations were split evenly between PAWS Animal Rescue and Los Gatos Foster Animals.
2017
In April 2017, our 2nd annual fundraiser generated $2,089 in monetary donations and over 200 cans of cat food, along with other items to benefit Michigan Pet Fund Alliance certified rescue, Lucky Day Animal Rescue.
2018
In April 2018, our 3rd annual birthday fundraiser raised $2,825 in monetary donations for Kreacher Konnections. We also collected additional materials, including 100 cans of cat food, 30 pounds of dry pet food, over 50 fleece blankets, kitten milk replacement, cat toys, cat litter, and other supplies.
In October 2018, we branched out from our typical schedule and added our first Mini Halloween Fundraiser, from October 17-31. We raised $600 as well as trash bags, vinegar, and kitten milk replacement to benefit Always Hope Animal Rescue.
2019
In 2019, we raised $3,815 in monetary donations for Lucky Day Animal Rescue, and we collected in-kind donations totaling over $3,000 for Michele’s Rescue, Carol’s Ferals, Humane Society of Huron Valley, Wonderland Humane Society, Lucky Day Animal Rescue, and Gratiot Animals in Need. We were overwhelmed by our support around the state, and partnered with 36 different sponsors and business partners throughout the year for 15 events.
2020
In 2020, we had to cancel our in-person events and cut back on our fundraising efforts. We raised $400 for Adopt-A-Pet throughout the year, and we also collected in-kind donations worth over $200 for Saving Tails Animal Rescue, and Great Lakes Rabbit Sanctuary through a service project one of our young supporters, Abigail Taylor, organized.
